Betsy Long Wech's functional pottery is usually classical in shape and inspired by natural forms. The pots are either wheel-thrown or formed by pressing slabs of clay into a variety of unlikely molds. Inspiration is everywhere.

"Using beautifully handcrafted items makes everyday tasks such as drinking morning coffee, making a salad, or serving hors d'oeuvres to friends a special event. I strive to make my pottery both useful and unique so that the ordinary becomes a celebration. No social or political statement—I just love to throw pots. Throwing pots is a physical and spiritual journey. My kick wheel is quiet, balanced, and reliable. I hope that along with these qualities, my pottery exhibits a creative sense of fun."
